Predictably, the defense will be that patriotic Americans have unquestioning faith in what its government does, unless it’s seen as being anti conservative, then it’s terrible. Destruction of evidence which might validate claims against those responsible for its destruction is, in Sane Land, an extremely troubling action; in non-critical Gitmo Defender Land, it is an act of necessary caution, justified in the name of national security, and those who made the claims are either guilty or hate America (the lawyers for the guilty). Funny how hating America means you believe more strongly in the principles of freedom, justness and fairness than do the blindly loyal Gitmo defenders.
